The Sheffield Wednesday goalkeeper Cameron Dawson is interesting Preston North End, Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Rangers ahead of the January transfer window, according to  The Star.

Dawson is out of contract at the end of the campaign and, having turned 24 earlier this year, Preston, Derby, Blackburn and Rangers would be able to sign him for free if a new one cannot be agreed before then.

All four clubs have ‘keepers coming to the end of their permanent or loan deals, with Rangers in line to lose three alone next summer – although the Scottish club’s manager, Steven Gerrard, recently expressed a desire to extend Allan McGregor’s stay at Ibrox.

And Dawson, who was ousted as Wednesday’s first-choice by the more experienced Keiren Westwood midway through last season, may be keen to explore his options having played a bit-part role at his boyhood club since then. Although, with Westwood coming to the end of his career, Dawson could still have a bright future at Hillsborough.

The Owls have, however, yet to offer a new deal to the Preston, Derby, Blackburn and Rangers-linked player and some fans fear they may be leaving it too late…

Others, though, are unmoved by  The Star‘s report, for various reasons…
