Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting after Sol Campbell emerged as the new second favourite to become the next permanent Owls manager.
Campbell left Macclesfield Town by mutual consent earlier on Thursday and it was later reported that the former Arsenal and England centre-back had not been paid by the League Two side for the past four months (Daily Mirror).

But the 44-year-old led them to a great escape last season and won 50 per cent of his league games this campaign.

Still, you would be hard-pressed to find too many Wednesdayites willing to give Campbell a chance at Hillsborough, where the interim manager Lee Bullen has overseen the Owls’ best start for 23 years.

You’re not wrong!!! Can’t stand the bloke (or should I say ‘greatest manager ever’ in his words) how long before he comes out and says he was let go not for footballing reasons!!
Truth is Sol mate…..you’re just a poor manager! End of!— Jim Capel (@Jimaldinho1867) August 15, 2019
Nothing against the guy but I hope Sol Campbell leaving Macclesfield doesnt mean he is coming to #swfc….. Would want someone with more experience (and why him rather than Bullen anyway?) #wawaw

Bullen remains the odds-on favourite to succeed Steve Bruce on a permanent basis, with Campbell 5/1 with one bookmaker.
Gary Rowett is next on the list at 14/1.
Campbell recently signed the young Sheffield Wednesday midfielder, Connor Kirby, on loan for Macclesfield.
Wednesday fans – would you want Campbell as manager?
