Sheffield Wednesday can reportedly take out an injunction to prevent Steve Bruce from joining Newcastle United until their terms are met, according to ESPN’s Dale Johnson.
Widespread reports claim Bruce has this morning resigned from his position as Wednesday manager in an attempt to force through a move to his boyhood club.
It has been suggested that the Owls are seeking as much as £6 million for Bruce and his assistants, Steve Agnew and Stephen Clemence, who are also said to have quit.
And it would appear as though Newcastle are reluctant to meet Sheffield Wednesday’s demands, prompting the 58-year-old to take drastic action.
It would not be the first time Bruce has done so, with Crystal Palace suspending him after he sought to join Birmingham City in 2001.
Palace also took out an injunction on that occasion, although an agreement was reached with Birmingham before the case could return to the High Court.
And fans of both Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United – the latter already unenthused by Bruce’s potential appointment – are seemingly behind the idea that the Owls could do likewise.
