Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media have been praising Barry Bannan despite the Owls’ incredibly disappointing result against Bristol City.
The Yorkshire club somehow conspired to drop points against the Robins despite playing the majority of the game against 10 men and having a chance from the penalty spot to go 2-0 up.
Ironically, it was Bannan’s missed penalty that cost the Owls on Saturday, but some Wednesday supporters actually picked his performance out as a bright spark.
Bannan, as per usual, was one of the only players driving the Owls forward against Bristol, but his creativity was to no avail as Wednesday struggled to break the Robins down.

Unfortunately, this match was another nail in the Yorkshire club’s coffin, and while Wednesday look resigned to relegation, it’s good to see that there’s at least one reason to be positive.
Here’s what Wednesday fans have been saying on social media…
One of the very few bright spots about this club is Barry Bannan. Anyone blaming not winning today on him needs to take a serious look at themselves #SWFC

Bannan running the show. Amazing that we still have idiots who are literally wishing for him to fail. What a club #swfc

Thought Bannan was the only one giving it 100% today. He can’t do it on his own.
