Comments made by the Leeds United winger Ezgjan Alioski about Garry Monk this week have gotten under the skin of some Sheffield Wednesday supporters.
Speaking ahead of Leeds’ trip to Wednesday on Saturday, Alioski said – perhaps with tongue in cheek – that he does not know who the former Whites manager is.
The North Macedonia international arrived at Elland Road just weeks after Monk, the new Sheffield Wednesday boss, chose not to extend his contract there in 2017, but has faced his sides on three occasions since then – losing twice.

Nevertheless, he told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “To be honest I don’t know who is Garry Monk and I don’t watch the coach and what he is doing and what start he has had.

“I know what a team we are, I know what a coach we have and how important he is for this team and he will prepare us like every game, so I will have a lot of information about Sheffield (Wednesday) from my staff that I have here and it doesn’t matter what Garry Monk will prepare against us. I will have a lot of information from Bielsa so I will prepare good for this Yorkshire derby.”
