Izzy Brown has sent a cryptic tweet on social media, but some Sheffield Wednesday fans aren’t best pleased with the underlying tone of his message.
Brown sent out a quote that read ‘if you accept their disrespect, they won’t respect you’, and while it’s impossible to say what Brown was referencing, Wednesday fans interpreted that this was pointed at them.
Brown had come under plenty of criticism after being sent off for the U23s during their 4-0 loss to their local rivals Sheffield United, and it would make sense if this quote was referencing the comments he’d been receiving.
Now, online abuse is never ok, and we’re not condoning that in the slightest, but if we’re going to play devil’s advocate, Wednesday fans had every right to be unhappy with Brown losing his rag in a 4-0 loss in a youth game, especially when you consider the uphill battle the first-team faces.

Brown may have been asking for respect in his tweet, but he certainly wasn’t getting any in response to that post.
Here’s what the Hillsborough faithful have been saying in response to Brown’s cryptic post…
You got sent off in an under 23’s game Izzy.

If that’s aimed at the fans which I imagine it is, you do know most have been wanting you to be given a chance in the 5 months you didn’t get a start?

I’m not a hater, I’ve actually backed you all season. But we are bottom 2 and you haven’t featured much, then played in u23s n lost 4-0 to Sheff Utd and got sent off. Just accept fans aren’t going to be happy n do your talking on the pitch 🙏 @Dunks_92 we need you next season 🆙
