Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have taken to social media to praise the performance of Osaze Urhoghide against Preston North End.

The young defender made his first league appearance of the season against the Lilywhites, and it’s fair to say we may be seeing a whole lot more of him from now on.

Urhoghide was everywhere against Preston, and without him on the pitch this could have been a very different game.

Anyone who watched the game would tell you that Urhoghide was a contender for Man of the Match, but if you weren’t tuned in on Saturday, a look at his stats from the game tell you just how good he was.

Four interceptions and two tackles were the standout numbers from a fantastic performance, and when to top it all off doing that against a player like Scott Sinclair, a man who has regularly played Champions League football in his career.

As you can imagine, a few Wednesday fans went a little bit over the top with their reactions, with one claiming that he was better than a prime Paolo Maldini, and while he isn’t quite at that level yet, he is certainly staking a claim to be a starter at Hillsborough.

Here’s what Wednesday fans have been saying about Urhoghide on social media…
