Some Sheffield Wednesday fans have been reacting to the news that Bristol City are now in for Danny Simpson, just days after the Owls were linked with a move.
The former Premier League winning right-back has been without a club since the end of last season, but it seems as though all of a sudden there’s a bit of competition for his signature.
Wednesday fans weren’t all that fussed at the idea of not landing Simpson, and to be fair, we can understand why. He’s a 34-year-old who hasn’t played for almost a year, and with the Owls having few games remaining to save their season, it’s hard to imagine that he’d have been the man to lead them to safety.
Darren Moore has confirmed that he won’t be joining the Owls, so we can write off any idea of him becoming a Wednesday player in the coming weeks.

However, one Wednesday supporter did make a good point, saying that it’s a sorry state of affairs that Wednesday are being beaten to a signing by Bristol City.
The Robins are of course a much smaller side than Wednesday historically, but it seems as though the tables have turned in terms of these two teams’ fortunes.
Here’s what the Hillsborough faithful have been saying on social media…
Only going Bristol. I’ll be shocked if he signs.

Not sure a 34 year old full back was the man to keep us up in truth anyway

Zero point in signing anyone at the moment. Need to start next seasons recruitment in league 1. I want to see young hungry players. Sick of these old journeymen

The worst thing about this is how on earth are Sheffield Wednesday competing with Bristol City for signings. Dark dark times.

No club for over 6-months and all of a sudden there’s competition.
