'Careful what you wish for’: Some SWFC fans have an interesting view on ownership update

Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media are incredibly sceptical about the idea of Erik Alonso purchasing the club after it was reported that he made a £30m offer to Dejphon Chansiri.

It’s fair to say that Chansiri hasn’t been the most popular of figures at Sheffield Wednesday in recent years. After all, he’s guided the club into financial uncertainty and a point deduction this season.

However, despite all of Chansiri’s flaws, some fans believe he’s the lesser of two evils in this scenario.

Indeed, fans seemingly aren’t too impressed by the way Alonso has conducted himself over time, and we can’t say we blame them.

He left his role as an unofficial advisor to Chansiri last month in rather unceremonious circumstances, and some supporters don’t want him to take over.

One fan stated that he doesn’t want him to join due to his supposed links with Matthew Southall – a man who was connected with an ill-fated venture at Charlton Athletic that almost saw the club go out of business.

There’s nothing official to state that Southall and Alonso are in business together, or that he’s at all connected with this bid, but Southall’s Instagram post from earlier this week seems to have made some Owls supporters suspicious.

Here’s what the Hillsborough faithful have been saying on social media…
