Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media have been praising Keiren Westwood despite the fact the Owls lost 4-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The veteran stopper made a string of great saves, and as many supporters said, if it weren’t for him, the Owls could have lost by six or seven.
It was certainly a disappointing afternoon to be a Wednesday fan, and despite the fact that a number of players underperformed, one man it’s hard to blame is Westwood.
Yes, he conceded four goals, but three of those were largely out of his control, one of the strikes was a penalty, while another was a fluke mishit cross and the final goal was a deflected effort that was hard to anticipate.
SAKA, ANTONY AND 10 PREMIER LEAGUE STARS HEADING TO THEIR FIRST WORLD CUP
It’s strange to see a goalkeeper getting so much credit in a game where they’ve conceded four goals, but the fact that Westwood is getting such adulation shows just how talented he is, and just how much Wednesday fans love him.
Here’s what the Hillsborough faithful have been saying about Westwood on social media…
Hats off to Westwood to be fair, two of best saves I’ve seen in a long time. Can’t deny his class at times #swfc

Westwood is our best keeper, why did anyone ever doubt it? 😂 #swfc

Not Westwood. If it wasn’t for that man we’d be losing 6-1 now

We would be down 6 or 7 if it wasn’t for Westwood
