Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media have been lavishing praise upon debutant Ryan Galvin after their FA Cup match against Exeter City.

The Owls came into their FA Cup tie with a depleted squad after an outbreak of coronavirus at the training ground, so there was plenty of rotation within the team.

One man who had to step up was young left-back Ryan Galvin, who was making his first ever appearance in senior football.

However, you never would have guessed he was playing his first game ever by his performance.

Indeed, the left-back looked as though he’d been playing football at this level for years, putting in a performance that was described by one supporter as cool and composed.

Galvin was simply excellent for the Yorkshire outfit, and he proved impossible to get past in the defence, making five tackles and three interceptions in a solid defensive showing.

It’s no surprise that the Owls came out of this game with a win and a clean sheet with Galvin playing in such a way.

Here’s what the Hillsborough faithful have been saying about the 19-year-old on social media…
