Some Sheffield Wednesday fans on social media have been giving Tom Lees a lot of credit despite the fact the Owls were beaten 1-0 by Stoke.
The Yorkshire club’s game against the Potters was rather frustrating, and while there was no cutting edge up front, there was one positive in the shape of Leeds.
Indeed, the centre-half was in fine fettle against Stoke, and while he couldn’t help the Owls towards a clean sheet, he got a lot of credit for his performance.
Fans on social media were quick to praise Lees for his performance, claiming that he was one of the only players on the day to put a real shift in.
While comments like that may have been a little unfair on the other players in Neil Thompson’s side, we can certainly see where they’re coming from as Lees played with his heart on his sleeve against Stoke.
Wednesday may have failed to beat Stoke on Tuesday, but if Lees continues to play like this, it won’t be long before the Steel City outfit are picking up points again.
Here’s what the Hillsborough faithful have been saying on social media…
Absolutely agreed, he’s the only one today that I thought really put a shift in, made a lot of last ditch clearances too.

He’s going to win our player of the season. A great way to sign off once he’s released. Player of the season with a relegated team 👌

Been poor tonight again, same old inconsistent Wednesday, absolutely nothing going forward, reach is a waste of space, Tom Lees has been brilliant #swfc
