The Sheffield Wednesday turnaround under Danny Rohl has been impressive. And the stats prove it.
Just a few months ago, Sheffield Wednesday were rooted to the bottom of the Championship table; winless, and without a prayer in their fight for survival.
Xisco Munoz had overseen the worst possible start and his exit was inevitable, if a bit delayed.
Danny Rohl was his replacement. The German was overlooked in favour of Munoz in the summer, but despite his youthful age and lack of experience, he’s proving to be a huge hit in the Championship.
His side came from behind to beat relegation rivals QPR last weekend; Sheffield Wednesday’s fourth win under Rohl and one that brings them to within six points of safety.
The stats since Danny Rohl came in
Rohl has now overseen 11 games as Sheffield Wednesday boss.
Under his watch, the Owls have taken 13 points from a possible 33, with their total points tally now standing at 16 for the season.
10 of those points have come from the last five games with Wednesday drawing against Leicester City, then beating Blackburn Rovers, Stoke City, and QPR.
And journalist Joe Crann has pointed out that, going off the last 10 games, Wednesday are 14th in the Championship form table, and going off the last six games, Wednesday would be in 11th.
Off the last five games, Sheffield Wednesday would be in 7th.

A long way still to go for Sheffield Wednesday
With every passing win, the hope that Sheffield Wednesday stay up grows and grows.
The team have shown so much improvements under Rohl that there’s almost an expectation that they stay up this season, but Rohl would be quick to remind everyone that there’s still a mountain to climb.
First, they need to close this six-point gap to Darren Moore‘s Huddersfield Town which may be easier said than done.
QPR are wedged in between Wednesday and Huddersfield and they’ve had a similar upturn in form to Wednesday in recent weeks, whilst the likes of Millwall and Stoke City sit ahead of Huddersfield.
Those teams will have to drop points in order for Wednesday to climb out of the bottom three, so Wednesday staying up this year may not be totally reliant on their own performances.
But wins are wins and each point brings the team closer to safety. And right now there seems to be nothing stopping the Owls, who will also look to bolster in the January window as they vie for survival.
