Wednesday's free-agent move could be 'back on' as he reportedly reappears for Lee Bullen's side

The freed Bolton Wanderers forward De’Marlio Brown-Sterling is still at Sheffield Wednesday, it seems.

Brown-Sterling appeared in two of the Wednesday Under-23s recent fixtures, having remained a free agent after his release by Bolton.

But he was nowhere to be seen as the young Owls won their first league game of the campaign, against Bristol City, earlier this month.

That appeared to suggest Brown-Sterling was no longer being pursued by Wednesday.

But according to the Huddersfield Town academy Twitter feed, the teenager was among those on show for Lee Bullen’s side during Wednesday afternoon’s friendly with the Terriers’ B-team – which ended in a 3-0 defeat.

It remains to be seen if Wednesday are still pursuing a move for Brown-Sterling, or if he has in fact signed for the Owls already.

Brown-Sterling was one of the players left in limbo after Bolton dropped to category three academy status and disbanded their U23 side at the end of last season.

He is one of several trialists observed by Wednesday this season, along with Giovanni McGregor [last of Crystal Palace], Colin Odutayo [Aston Villa], Marley Blair [Burnley], Okera Simmonds [Accrington Stanley], Callum Huxley [Wrexham] and Kieran Cummings [currently of Bourne Town].
