Fernando Forestieri was seen at the home of one of Sheffield Wednesday’s local rivals on Wednesday.

But Owls fans should have few concerns about the Argentine leaving them, after he appeared to explain an alternative reason for his visit on Instagram.

Tagging himself at Rotherham United’s New York Stadium, Forestieri shared a video which showed his initials and squad number (45) on the front of a National Speed Awareness Course logbook.

Forestieri has only just returned from a six-game ban after the Football Association deemed him likely to have used racist language towards Krystian Pearce of Mansfield Town, during a pre-season friendly in July 2018.

But the 29-year-old, who finished as top scorer in each of his first two seasons at Sheffield Wednesday, has been used sparingly by new boss Garry Monk since then.

And he will hope to gatecrash Monk’s plans for Saturday’s trip to Blackburn Rovers, as he attempts to get his Owls career back on track ahead of his contract expiring next summer.
