It has not been the easiest few weeks for fans of Sheffield Wednesday.

Not only did their own, albeit slim, promotion hopes end with a 3-3 draw against Preston a fortnight ago this Saturday, they saw their rivals’ ascent confirmed the following day.

But while most of the bragging rights, therefore, belong to those of a Sheffield United persuasion, there is one area in which the Owls have trumped the Blades this past campaign.

According to @EFLStats on Twitter, only Leeds United and Aston Villa boasted higher average away attendances than Wednesday throughout the 2018/19 Championship season, with United next on the list (which you can see below).

That is despite what was for long periods a dismal campaign that threatened to end with the Owls’ exit through the division’s back door.

It is, however, United who come out on top of Sheffield’s home attendance table, with the two sides sixth and eighth respectively overall.
