Who is Quentin Beunardeau? Five facts about the goalkeeper reportedly interesting Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday are being linked with a move for Quentin Beunardeau.

But who exactly is he?

Allows us to fill you in…

A short biography…

Beunardeau is a 25-year-old French goalkeeper who plays for CD Aves in Portugal’s top division.

Where else has he been?

He began his career with hometown team, Le Mans, and played for fellow French sides, Nancy and Metz, either side of a spell in Belgian football with Tubize.

Sounds fairly unremarkable…

Perhaps. Beunardeau did however represent France at various youth levels and underwent trials at Bayern Munich, Villarreal and Sampdoria in his teenage years, suggesting there is indeed some talent there.

What are the media saying?

According to Record, Wednesday are one of several clubs keeping an eye on him, along with Aston Villa, Montpellier and Nice. There is no suggestion however that any of those are planning to act on their initial interest.

What’s his situation?

Beunardeau is under contract with Aves until 2021, so a transfer fee could be required to sign him. The question is, if Wednesday extend Keiren Westwood’s deal would they really waste what little money they’re likely to have available by adding to a department in which they already have strength in depth?
