Report: Cup snub 'final straw' for Sheffield Wednesday's Jordan Rhodes, chances of loan move soaring

The chances of Jordan Rhodes securing another temporary move are soaring after the former Norwich City star was again overlooked by Sheffield Wednesday, according to The Sun on Sunday (September 29, page 61).

Rhodes has failed to make any of Garry Monk’s Championship matchday squads since the new Owls manager arrived earlier this month.

And the newspaper claims that his omission from Tuesday’s League Cup eleven to play Everton, against whom the 29-year-old appeared as a second-half substitute, looks to be the ‘final straw’.

Norwich were strongly linked with a fresh move for Rhodes during the summer transfer window, but Sheffield Wednesday’s club-record signing remained at Hillsborough with Lucas Joao sold to Reading instead.

The Sun on Sunday report fails to mention where Rhodes could go, and whether or not Norwich have maintained an interest remains to be seen.

Meanwhile, the same publication reports that a player who played for both Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich is interesting Salford City.

It is claimed that Salford want talks with Ben Marshall, who was linked with a return to Hillsborough after his release by the Canaries earlier this year.

Rhodes and Marshall were teammates at Norwich and Blackburn Rovers and have remained close friends.
