Some Sheffield Wednesday fans are urging the Owls to hand Gary Hooper a new contract.
Hooper has started back-to-back first-team fixtures, more than 15 months since his previous outing.
And the 31-year-old marked the last of those with a goal.
Hooper is understood to be one of Hillsborough’s highest earners, at a time when the club should be striving to cut costs.
And his recent injury record is another tick in the cons column.
But for these Owls followers, the pros are far greater.
My thoughts on out of contract #swfc players:
Liam Palmer – IN
Kieren Lee – OUT
David Jones – OUT
Kieren Westwood – IN
Daniel Pudil – OUT
Marco Matias – OUT
George Boyd – OUT
Almen Abdi – OUT
Gary Hooper – IN

There can’t still be people who wouldn’t offer hooper a new deal if he’s fit. Did you watch him today?! #swfc

Seems unlikely now but I am desperate for Wednesday to keep Lee and Hooper. Think some people been playing to much football manager games though. The amount of ‘pay as you play’ suggestions I’ve seen is comical, come on get real🤣🤣 #swfc

Gary hooper is the best forward at the club but I fear he won’t get a new deal 🙁 #swfc

Wednesday are reported to have paid around £3 million to sign Hooper on a permanent basis in early 2016.
The former Celtic striker has scored or made 42 goals in 85 games for the Owls.
